The Price of Sex around the World (2019)
The global prostitution industry makes US$186 billion per year, according to Havocscope. But how does this billion dollar industry trickle down to the workers who make it possible?
To find out, we analyzed thousands of profiles of female sex workers on 200 websites, covering 55 countries, from escort directories to agencies and some of the most recognized international sites.
These prices aren’t “the standard”, rather the aproximate average of prices published in 2019 by the many escorts on the web. This map is not good for deciding what to charge for your services.
Now, it’s worth mentioning that we are not talking about prostitution in general, but about independent escorts or legally authorized agencies. These are not prices that you can find in the streets late at night, or in the famous red light districts, so they are much higher than one would think.
To make the task easier, all costs are converted to US dollars, and reflect only the costs for 1 hour of service, without including transportation costs, or extra services.
