The Intrinsic Value of Democracy
In recent times, concerns about the foundations of democracy being threatened around the world have become prominent topics of discussion. The map I created, charting the evolution of the Democracy Index over the past 16 years, serves as a visual testament to these apprehensions. According to this map, even some developed democracies showed a decline in the democracy index.
To emphasize the significant influence of democracy on our general well-being, I have created some more visual representations that highlight the correlation between the democracy index and other measures of quality of life such as GDP per capita, life expectancy, and the Happiness Index. These maps aim to shed light on the symbiotic relationship between democratic values and key indicators that contribute to our collective quality of life.
