A landlocked country is an independent nation that doesn’t have territory connected to the seabord.
Usually, being landlocked leads to some political and economic impediments. For this purpose, countries throughout history have tried to gain access to international open waters.
Nowadays, there are forty-five landlocked nations and five partly recognized landlocked states. Almost half of the landlocked countries the least developed countries in the world.
Kazakhstan is the world’s largest landlocked nation (2.7 million sq km), followed by Mongolia (1.6 million sq km), Vatican — is the smallest (0.44 sq km). The most populous landlocked country is Ethiopia (101.9 million people).
